The next big thing.....Snappy Greens

As promised, I want to write a review for the brand new Snappy Greens Cloth Diaper.   Rebecca and I have been in contact over the last few weeks, and we get wayyyy too excited about our projects that we are doing.  As you already know, I'm super jealous of the people who are able to sew, knit, crochet..... That type of skill is just something that I have a hard time wrapping my head around.  Rebecca has this skill mastered.  She has so many different options for homemade mom and baby gear that is of the highest quality.

I was sent this diaper in a very timely fashion. Rebecca sent me the gender neutral tester diaper for the 5-12 month age slot.  When we first opened up the package, I was blown away by the fluffy-ness.  It felt like a cloud. BooBoo patted on it like a drum for a while and felt the material.   My husband (who is totally out of the cloth diaper loop) wanted one for himself.   The outer is a very soft cotton jersey knit print.  It is not PUL material, but this doesn't make a difference in its performance (to be expanded later).   The inner and soaker material is cotton velour.  Imagine your fourth grade Christmas dress..... Or your 2001 Juicy (written on the butt) velour pants.... you know, that super soft, fuzzy bunny feeling.  The color combination is a black, yellow, white checkered pattern outer, with black cotton velour inner, and alternating yellow and black buttons.

My first test is fit.   BooBoo is 11 months old and is a skinny mini.   He is tall and thin for his age and is moving all of the time.  Therefor, the fit test is one of the most crucial.

Fit--
The diaper is a snug fit.  Because of the fabric type, you can truly make this diaper fit looser for added fluff or tighter if you have less stuffing.   The snaps were a little tight, but this was merely because it was brand new.  I hadn't 'worn them in' yet.   Also with cotton velour, you get a bit more stretch on the fabric when you try to unsnap the snaps. Only time will tell if the fabric can withstand all of the snapping and unsnapping.   The fit around the legs is the best out of any cloth diaper that he has.  The leg holes hit him in the perfect location.   It has the perfect amount of stretch in the right locations on the legs and back.

Quality--
The quality of this diaper is impecable.   When it is made by hand, it is made with love.   For those of you who know me personally, you know I can be.....well, frugal.   This diaper is well worth the  cost that Rebecca charges.  I've actually ordered another one.... (see bottom of this post) I was so impressed with the quality and the different material than the 'average' cloth diaper, that I couldn't resist.   I know I've said this in a previous post, but the most appealing thing about Rebecca's business to me is the fact that she is so connected with her fans.   She asks for suggestions before going to the fabric store, and allows custom orders (for now).   Her online store is very well organized and her material is as described.  She is always quick to return answers to any questions that you may have.    Although, I've only had the diaper about one week, I can tell that the quality is very good.   Her sewing and her workmanship are fantastic.  She included 3 soakers in the diaper and would be a wonderful overnight diaper.   The soakers are sewn with the same cotton velor material and are very absorbant. I asked Rebecca if the cotton velour was going to be to hot in the summer....and she made a very valid point....it won't be as hot as the PUL diapers because the PUL have waterproof liner which locks moisture in causing sweating.  The cotton will breathe better allowing the sweat to wick away from baby's bottom.

"This is with the 3 soakers folder in, making many layers of absorbency. All three soakers snap together, and you have the choice to have 1, 2, or all 3 soakers snapped in. This will be great for the small babies, and as they get older you can add more soakers to the diaper as you need it. " - Rebecca- Snappy Greens

Absorbancy-   Boo Boo was a champ with this next test.  He gave us a nice number one and number two to test absorbancy.  I tested this diaper for 4 hours.   No leaks.  It was a tiny bit damp right in the front zone but I only used  2 out of 3 soakers.   It wasn't a lot of the 'number two' but everything was contained perfectly, and washed out nicely.  Best part of the black cotton velour inner.....no stains!!!    You could certianly use a disposable liner in this diaper if you knew that baby was going to go poo soon.

Usability-  This diaper was pretty easy to use.  I prefer using snap diapers versus velcro, but daddy gets frustrated.  So, this diaper is not as daddy friendly as some others that we have in our stash.  The snaps are nicely placed and offer many different adjustments.  We were able to get a very snug fit on our skinny baby.  I did mess up the buttons at first and missed a snap, but I could tell right away.  Either way, baby was super happy in this diaper and you could tell he was comfortable.  The diaper was easy to disassemble and wash.  It came out perfectly.   I'm not sure if I can hang this diaper out to dry, or if the colors would fade considerably...so I guess we will just dry this diaper inside unless I hear otherwise :)

Enjoy the photos below!   I'm hoping that we can do a giveaway with Snappy Greens in the Future because I give this diaper a grade of 95/100. I think you will enjoy her products too, including mommy cloth pads, drool pads for baby carriers and car seats, cloth wipes, diaper extenders for bigger babes, and her signature 'un-paper towels' which are the coolest things I've seen in a long time!
