Bhootie Baby Review and Giveaway

First of all, I'd like to say how much of a pleasure it has been working with Jennifer at Bhootie Baby.   I'm not really sure how she does it with 4 children...but she makes a great product, at a great price point.   I was lucky enough to snag one of the first custom spots that opened up after Jennifer started spending more time doing diapers and less time at her hospital job.   Yeah, you read that correctly...4 kids, a demanding hospital job with crazy shifts, and a diaper maker.....superwoman? perhaps!
Jennifer O'Neill is the woman behind the virtual Bhootie Baby shop.   Her aspiration to cloth diaper her 4th child was the inspiration behind her business.  After much research into cloth diapering and materials, she felt as though she could make her own diapers.  By drafting her own pattern in the summer of 2013 and much practice, she was ready to open Bhootie Baby shop by January 2014.  Most recently, Jennifer has introduced  embriodery, and purchased a fancy (and huge) new embroidery machine to handle the growing workload.  She also is going to be branching out into surging diapers and creating matching shirt and pant sets.

At this current time, Bhootie baby sells hybrid diapers, which I've been reviewing a lot lately.  This custom diaper is a bit different.  All of my other hybrid fitteds use cotton velour on the inside....well...I requested cotton velour on the inside and outside in a plain color.....  You see, I'm too picky to go with pattern.  I much prefer the simplicity of plain bold colors, stripes, or repeting patterns.  Must be the order in which my eyes see.   I will say that I have an appreciation for Jennifer's artistic eye when matching patterns, colors and styles.   She also used premium Euro knits, 100% cotton, and other hard to find fabrics.   She also dabbles in ice dying of fabrics....and if you don't own an one of a kind ice dyed diaper...you don't know what you are missing.  They are gorgeous and vibrant!  Jennifer aspires to be on the the top 'go-to' WAHMs for hybrid cloth diapers.   She is already gaining fans quickly, and offers top-knotch customer service and social networking.

Like all cloth diapers you should use the Bhootie Hybrid fitted by dumping solids into the toilet and use a diaper sprayer (if applicable - we don't have one :'[  )   One thing to note with Bhootie diapers is that line drying in not encouraged.   It often causes the natural fibers in the diaper to fade and get stiff.   NOBODY like a crunchy diaper.   Jennifer recommends that you dry the diaper on low and you can also use an organic fabric softener every 3 or so washes if you wish.

I would like to start by talking about how HUGE little boo boo is getting.  He is getting tall and skinny and is starting to get little boy features....you know like the little stomach muscles and he totally has an envious 'thigh gap'   His diapers are getting lots of use still.  Potty training is a little ways off.   He does tell us when he is going 'poopey', because he is quite a talker...and he will also sit on the potty, but nothing usually comes out unless it is a fluke.  He will be turning two on June 14th!   I can't even believe it!

Anyways, boo-boo seems VERY comfortable in this diaper.  Its just so velvety and soft on the inside and outside.   The diaper comes with a foldable insert and a shorter 'snake' style insert that can be placed in the diaper whereever you need the most coverage.  My custom Bhootie has a hidden layer of windpro fabric which is supposed the direct moisture back into the diaper soakers.

Since I do have a toddler, the amount of 'moisture' that he produces has increased.   I've notices that hybrids that usually last 3-4 hours now only last 2.  Therefore, with the Bhootie diaper I tried it with the given inserts, and the diaper lasted for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.   After adding a organic cotton booster that I had, it lasted for 4 hours the next time.  This is fantastic considering I did not use a cover.

We did do an overnight test with the Bhootie using a flip cover and the diaper lasted all night but was very wet.  No leaks !   I can attribute this to the great fit around the legs and waist. You can tell by the pictures that this diaper is a great fit for a thin and tall baby like BooBoo.   I especially like the turned and top stitched style for skinnier babies..

If you have a mover and a shaker....Bhootie diapers are really great for that.  This diaper is THE BEST out of all of my hybrids for staying close to the body and not creating ANY gaps during movement.   He is constantly climbing, crawling, falling, running, and not once the diaper shifted, stretched or became undone.   The diaper did not sag when it was wet, and he stayed comfortable and happy even after the diaper was damp.
 I mean....the thing fits like a glove.

The diaper is also super trim and not bulky.   This is often a concern with skinny and smaller babies.  If you need a diaper to fit under clothing, Bhootie is a great diaper to consider.  It fits very close to the body without loosing coverage on the legs and bottom.  it is one of the best diaper cuts that I have seen in a long time.

The materials are soft and top of the line.  I mean, it felt as soft as my  2001 velour jogging suit and brought back an flood of memories. (OH my god..... nothing was cooler than velour jogging suits paired with a VonDutch Hat and super straight hair, REMEMBER??)
The stitching and workmanship of the diaper are great.  We've had the diaper for a little while now and haven't noticed any fading or wear on the diaper.  Only a little fading on the tag.

Do not ask me WHY he insisted on wearing his 'boots'.....maybe because I told him we were taking pictures of his Bhootie diaper....and he thought I meant boots?  Either way, cuteness ensued.

Just check out the inner softness......I think that I want one for myself.   Maybe Jennifer will make me an embroidered Velour jogging suit...... I can bring the trend back? Right?   Perhaps Teal, or Hot pink...... those seem to be the good throw back colors.   Ah- even better... BABY velour suits.   See Jennifer?  I could be a personal Bhootie Baby product consultant!
